Jairus was a ruler of the synagogue, but in the face of his dying daughter he was a father who needed the help of Jesus. The text says, “And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet” (Mark 5:22), introducing his office and then immediately showing him falling down. Having a responsibility or position among people does not mean that one can protect life as one wishes. In the face of that limit, Jairus did not try to save face. Knowing that the One who could save his daughter was Jesus, he came to Him and pleaded with Him.
