The woman who had suffered from a flow of blood for twelve years tried to be treated by many physicians. But even after spending all her possessions, she obtained no benefit, and her illness grew worse. The time she struggled out of a desire to live was long, but with that effort she could not restore her own body. After speaking of this woman’s despair, the Gospel of Mark conveys the fact that she heard about Jesus. The point at which the woman’s hope changed was not when she gained new possessions, but when she came to know of Jesus.
