The man who had been set free from the demons wanted to get into the boat together with Jesus. But Jesus did not do as he begged. He said, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you” (Mark 5:19). The way the saved man hoped for and the way Jesus entrusted to him were different. He did not deny the grace because his wish was not accepted; he went to proclaim what Jesus had done for him. From this scene we learn that following the Lord is not the same as having one’s own wishes fulfilled just as they are.
