As the disciples got into the boat, they forgot to take bread. The bread they had was one loaf. Although they had just seen about four thousand people eat and seven large baskets still left over, the disciples’ attention was now fixed on the fact that there was not enough bread in their hands. Even though Jesus was with them, the lack before their eyes felt greater than that fact.
