Is it not to be set on a lampstand?” (Mark 4:21). That is right. That is indeed the fact. In the old days, people put oil in an oil lamp, dipped the wick in the oil, lit it, placed it on a lampstand, and lit up the inside of the house. A lamp is lit to be placed in such a high place and to light up the whole room.
