Even while we speak of faith, we can set up standards of our own in our hearts. When the Lord works in a way that fits those standards, we rejoice, and when He does not, we find it hard to accept. But the Lord is not a savior we have fashioned to fit our own thoughts. He is God, who made us and came to resolve our sins. The angel conveyed this about Him: “For He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). Therefore, true faith does not begin with fitting the Lord to our thoughts; it begins with knowing and accepting what the Lord has done.
